Dr. Masafumi Machida of Yokohama Stroke and Neurospinal Center received the Russell A.Hibbs Basic Research Award. "The Possible Pathogenesis in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Based on Experimental Model of Melatonin-deficient C57BL/6J Mice" In this study, we clarified for the first time in the world that melatonin receptors are present in various parts of the body, but the receptor involved in the development and progression of scoliosis is the thalamus in the brain. The effects of bisphosphonates treatment in patients with steroidal osteoporosis were analyzed over time by using conventional methods such as DEXA and MDCT 3D images, and by measuring bone strength by BMD, bone morphometry, and stress analysis, and the improvement of bone quality over time.
